Currently, China is drafting privacy regulations, and it looks like 
personal data, crossing borders might be near impossible when this is 
finished and becomes law.

The USA turning 180 degrees shows fast this landscape is evolving, next 
election (or faster) we might see another 180 degrees again.

Volker is right; we need to make sure our policies remain compliant with 
applicable government practices, laws & regulations. That is the way 
forward, it is not easy, but for sure this WG can do it.
