Dear Cheryl and members of the Metrics WG,

I am following up on my AI of the LA meeting:

Silvia Vivanco<https://community.icann.org/display/~silvia.vivanco> to follow up that at least 3 RALOs have some measure of attendance. A poll will be conducted via AC connect/ survey to harmonize RALO attendance percentages, at the ALAC/RALO/ At large structure. With the goal to have a draft proposal by the November ALAC meeting.

Kindly find attached a table which outlines the main existing RALO attendance metrics (including proposals).

Regarding the poll will be conducted via AC connect/ survey to harmonize RALO attendance percentages, at the ALAC/RALO/ At large structure. With the goal to have a draft proposal by the November ALAC meeting. Note Staff will be ready to conduct the poll once the questions are defined by the WG.

I am looking forward to our discussing this and other Metrics tomorrow.

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Silvia

Thanks Dev,

I have seen somewhat similar systems for use in measuring engagement in Marketing and educational specific webinar tool but this has a lot to offer over them ( and not just the cost ;-)

I definitely think we should look at this further

Hi Dev

This looks interesting.. I like the colour-coded monitoring of engagement of each of the participants by the presenter.. this would be great for a tutorial so that the tutor can seek out those who have not participated to ask them for some contribution.

In our normal meetings participation is voluntary, although it is what we are expecting more of our ALAC members.. for many ALS members who attend, most of them are new and it takes a bit of time for them to be comfortable enough to join in a conversation, even in the chat.. (until they meet us personally).. but the tool does have some merit. What about recording of this information post-meeting?

ALSO on that technology subject… We are having problems trying to connect our PICISOC Board members on skype.. and we are not be able to afford to purchase access to adobe connect or to the cisco webex.. we are still looking for a freebie meeting tool that allows audio as well as chat. Our new PICISOC Board members reside in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Cook Islands and New Zealand. ☺

Interesting tool that's is available in Adobe Connect 9 ; an engagement index tool that is visible to presenters during the meeting and could be charted to show the minute by minute engagement scores after the meeting.

From the white paper which describes in detail how the engagement index is calculated in Adobe Connect:
http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/adobeconnect/pdfs/web-conferencing/The_Rules_of_Engagement_wp_ue.pdf

"Adobe Connect simplifies the visualization of engagement with a graphical index, or meter, that presenters can glance at to stay
abreast of participant engagement. In addition to engagement, the dashboard shows several key indicators of interaction.
If the Q&A pod is being used, it shows how many questions have been asked, and how many. If polls are used, it shows how many
users have taken the poll. It also shows attendance and time of the session. Presenters know, at a glance, the status of
their meetings.....

....The overall engagement index for the meeting is measured between 0 and 100 percent. It is the average of the engagement of all individuals in the meeting including the host, presenter, and participant roles. Individual engagement is measured over a period of 1 minute. The actual score depends on user activity during the Adobe Connect meeting and the duration of that activity.

Different activities have different engagement point values. The following are events and actions that provide engagement points to an individual:

1. Explicit activities give 100 points to an individual including:
   a. Chat activity—Chatting privately and publicly
   b. Q&A activity—Asking questions, adding, assigning, and deleting
   c. Poll activity—Responding to a poll
   d.File download—Downloading a file
   e. Notes pod activity—Typing
   f. Status updates - 10 points if status is stepped away ; 100 points for all other status updates
   g. Mouse activities—80 points for activities like clicking to start a webcam, scrolling a notes pod, and so on

2. Meeting window focus
   a. 70 points if meeting browser tab/add-in has focus. Otherwise, 20 points
   b. 10 points if meeting add-in is minimized"

There's a lot more - read the PDF for more details
