This discussion is internal to the relevant sub-group in Unicode, for 
the moment. A publicly visible document may show up for the agenda of 
the next UTC meeting. (Until then, you'd have to be a collaborator or 
member to access the details, and if you are, you know where to look).

Yeah, my impression as well, but this would be a small step to mark the 
beginning of the end. The proposal deliberately chooses to "deprecate", 
not remove, at this point. Hoping that sends a signal.
